Students and families are invited to join us for the dress rehearsal preceding each Masterworks Concert. While following along with educational materials, they can watch the Missoula Symphony Orchestra & Chorale rehearse in final preparation for the concert weekend. This event is FREE for students and their families.
At the start of the rehearsal, Music Director Julia Tai introduces herself and speaks with the students about the purpose and function of a dress rehearsal so that students know what to expect. Later, during the mid-rehearsal break, Ms. Tai greets students personally and answers questions. The 2024-2025 Student Night @Dress Rehearsal series is sponsored by the Bill and Rosemary Gallagher Foundation.

Symphony musicians visit Missoula-area high schools to perform and coach music students within their orchestra and band classes. In 2024, this outreach is sponsored by the Max and Betty Swanson Foundation. and the Missoula County Rural Impact Grant Program.
The Symphony collaborates with Missoula County Public Schools to strengthen our educational outreach in K-12 schools. Music Director Julia Tai has worked with the Missoula Youth Symphony during their rehearsals, and members of MYS have performed alongside the Symphony in Masterworks concerts.
Additionally, the Missoula Symphony Orchestra proudly collaborates with other non-profit and arts organizations in our community, including the Montana Natural History Center, Missoula Public Library, Five Valley’s Land Trust, the University of Montana, and local theatre director, Rosie Seitz-Ayers.
