2024 MSA String Camp Faculty

Emily Brand (Music ‘n Movement Classes) teaches early childhood music education classes at the Ironhorse Consortium for Young Musicians (Helena, MT) and instructs a robust private lesson studio with students ranging from preschool through adult.

Dawn Douglas (Cello Repertoire Class) has lived in Missoula for 35 years. She has degrees in performance and music education from the University of Montana. She is a member of the Missoula Symphony and has taught band, orchestra, choir and general music at several schools in MCPS. Her approach to teaching is broad, varied, and enthusiastic.

Anna Grussling (Violin/Viola Master and Repertoire Classes) is the lead violin teacher at Grow Music Missoula. She has a home violin studio with students ages 5 to 15, teaches Special Education at Bonner Elementary, and works as a dance instructor with the Carroll-Henderson School of Irish Dance.

Angelica Kalasz-Chandler (Cello Master and Repertoire Classes) is an active music educator and performer in Missoula. She is currently teaching orchestra at Franklin/Hawthorne, and Big Sky High School. She enjoys performing with her band, The Queens and Mr. G, and in the Missoula Symphony Orchestra.

Oumar Keita (African Drumming Class), a native of Guinea, West Africa, now shares his culture in Missoula through SPARK!, school programs, and performances in the community. He is an active member of the community dance and drum group Djebe Bara.

Kira Lee (Violin/Viola Master and Repertoire Classes) is an active music educator and performer in Missoula. She is currently teaching orchestra at Washington Middle School. She enjoys playing with String Orchestra of the Rockies, the Missoula Symphony Orchestra, and her band, The Queens and Mr. G.

Sylvia Oman (Director; Musicianship Classes) is Education Coordinator of the Missoula Symphony Association and has played in the Missoula and Helena symphonies, as well other small ensembles in the area. As a Suzuki-trained teacher, she maintains a private studio of violin and viola students, ages 5 to 18.

Beth Youngblood (Violin/Viola Master Class; Fiddling) was introduced to both fiddling and improvisation while living in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Based out of Asheville North Carolina, she spent eight years touring the country and the world with the Howard Hanger Jazz Fantasy. She is a long time Missoula Suzuki violin teacher, enjoys teaching fiddle tunes and styles, loves to sing, and this summer, when not hiking with her amazing dog Willa, will be immersed in a recording project of original compositions with her trio Ouzel.

Loryn Zerr (Art) has been the ART teacher at Missoula International School for the last 11 years. She has taught at the Missoula Art Museum, Sentinel High School, Sussex School, the Flagship program, and at Zootown Community Arts Center. She remains active in the local arts community and makes and shows her paintings, sculptures, and mixed media art whenever possible.
